Spring Break -- Another Year

I really meant to try to add to this blog more than once a year, but so far that is all it's amounted to. There was so much that happened since the last post, I really can't put it all down (am on the road @sxsw), so I will add the news to my home page or one of my other blogs.

A Year Later - Spring Break @last

... and what a year it's been! Suffering the ravages of Rita and most of another school year, life seems to finally be getting back to normal. Although I could stand some cooler weather, I certainly needed the break. There were a lot of things I wanted to do over the break (such as some sketching and water colors) that I have let slide and played on the computer instead. Bad idea. So now, I will have to wait until June. Hopefully, I will get some blogging in before that.

Aaaahhhhh - Spring Break @last

It has been a few months since I have written here, so I thought I would take advantage of my time off from the classroom during Spring Break to add a new post.

At the end of December I installed linux on the hard drive of the family desktop computer. Currently it is in a dual-boot configuration so that we can still access programs in Windows that we may think we need. So far that does not occur with much frequency. I have found only a few things that I need from that OS -- mainly having to do with my Palm PDA.

I have put the podcasting forays in limbo for the present time, as I am more concerned at this point in trying to get my notebook computer (also running linux - only) working on a wireless network. So far the experience overall with linux has been fun.

Welcome to my Weblog

Well, I thought I would try creating a Weblog (or blog) in order to pursue the topics of RSS, XML, and Podcasting. I hope to try my hand at these new (relatively) techniques on the internet. I have been on the internet since around 1990, before there was a world wide web, as we know it today. I used a dos shell, a lynx text browser, and a 2 meter ham radio packet setup to access the internet at a blazing 1200 baud back then. Please stay tuned to this blog for further meanderings into the seemingly never-ending possibilities of this phenomenon called the internet.
